Golden Eagles Head to Iowa City for Black & Gold Premier

MILWAUKEE – Marquette University track and field is back in action this weekend as it travels to Iowa City to compete in the Black and Gold Premier hosted by the University of Iowa, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 25-26.

The Golden Eagles head to Iowa City for the first time since 2008 with Friday's action featuring the weight throw set to begin at 3 p.m. Central time. Competing for the women will be Lizzy Cagle, Allie Flando, Amanda Hodgson, Keely Knobbe and Monica Voudrie, while the men's side will feature Terrance Howard, Brendan McKinney and Vinnie Voudrie.

The rest of the squad will gear up for Saturday's action, which starts with the men's and women's high jump scheduled for a noon start. Running events will kick off at 2 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles.

Last week, the Golden Eagles combined for 14 event victories and a host of all-time list marks en route to a dual meet split against Milwaukee at the John Tierney Classic. The women's side earned a 10-point victory, while the men came up seven points short of their crosstown foes.

Highlighting the week was another set of dual BIG EAST weekly winners as Terrance Howard (throws) and Catherine Sherwood (jumps) swept field athlete honors. It marked the second time this season Marquette has garnered multiple honors after Daniel Armstrong (high jump) and Breanne Marchan (sprints) claimed the first set of weekly awards in December.

Following this weekend's action, the Golden Eagles will make their annual trip to South Bend, Indiana, to compete at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 1-2.
