Play Begins at ITA Regionals

Fleur Eggink wins two matches in qualifying draw
EAST LANSING, Mich.-- Senior Fleur Eggink won her first two matches in the qualifying singles draw as the Marquette women's tennis team opened the ITA Regionals on the campus of Michigan State University on Thursday.
Eggink defeated Natalia Bravo from ISU in her opening match, 6-3, 6-3, and followed with a swift 6-3, 6-1 win over Toledo's Patty Panta in the second round. Play will continue in the qualifying draw for Eggink on Friday morning.
Natalija Popovic won her first round match, 6-2, 6-0 over Vasvi Ganesan (EMU), but dropped a tough battle over BIG EAST foe DePaul, 3-6, 6-2, 5-7, in the second round.
Senior Lesley Foe also won her first round match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Katarina Drazic from CSU before falling to UIC, 7-5, 6-4.
Fellow senior Milica Novakovic was bumped into the singles main draw, which is slated to begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT.
Friday will see the beginning of doubles action with first and second rounds beginning in the afternoon. Novakovic will join Isabella Franks, while freshman Giulia Turconi will team with Foe as Eggink and Popovic round out the final duo competing for the Golden Eagles.
