The senior captain led a strong defensive performance at Villanova Saturday
NEW YORK – Marquette University men's soccer defender Patrick Seagrist was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.
The senior out of Streamwood, Illinois led a steady back line for the Golden Eagles on the way to a clean sheet in a BIG EAST road win over Villanova on Saturday. He headed away a goal scoring opportunity on the back post for the Wildcats and later blocked a shot in the box to stave off another goal-scoring opportunity.
A 2018 First Team All-BIG EAST selection, Seagrist was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week three times last season. He also earned recognition for his play prior to this season when he was named to the 2019 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
Seagrist leads the team and ranks third in the BIG EAST with six assists on the year. His eight points in 2019 are good for third on the team, behind only Connor Alba (9) and Josh Coan (12).
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 23 for a BIG EAST matchup against the Butler Bulldogs. First touch is set for 7:03 p.m. with live streaming available on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

75'| Patrick Seagrist and the back line of Marquette keep Villanova from going up 1-0! Excellent defending by the Golden Eagles.
