The sophomore forward tallied a goal and an assist Wednesday against Butler
NEW YORK – Marquette University men's soccer forward Lukas Sunesson was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.
Â
The sophomore striker from Taby, Sweden led the Golden Eagles to a critical BIG EAST victory on Wednesday night against Butler at Valley Fields. He tallied an assist on Josh Hancock's first half goal and scored one himself in the second half to put his team up 3-1. His goal was the eventual game-winner as the MU went on to win 3-2.
A 2018 BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection, Sunesson has tallied seven goals and an assist in the past two seasons. This is his second time making the BIG EAST Honor Roll, as he did once in his freshman year as well.
Â
He ranks second on MU in shots (27) this season and is tied for fifth in goals (2). He's started in 12 of the 15 games for the Golden Eagles in 2019 and ranks second in minutes played (1,088) among forwards.
Â
Sunesson and the Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 against the Seton Hall Pirates for senior night at Valley Fields. First touch is set for 7:03 p.m. with live streaming available on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
