
MU Falls to No. 12 St. John's, 4-0

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's soccer team fell 4-0 to No. 12 St. John's tonight at Valley Fields in BIG EAST action.
After a back-and-forth first 35 minutes of the game, SJU senior defender Rafael Bustamante netted the lone goal of the first half off one touch from a pass off a corner kick to put the Red Storm up 1-0.
SJU went into the half leading despite being outshot by MU, 6-4.
The Red Storm scored the first of three second half goals in the 55th minute as Atila Ashrafi ripped a shot from the middle of the box off the outstretched arms of MU keeper Cedrik Stern and into the left corner of the net.
SJU forward Tani Oluwayseyi put the game out of reach with goals in the 62nd and 88th minutes to give his team a four-goal victory at Valley Fields.
The Golden Eagles found themselves in several scoring positions but struggled to find the back of the net. Four of their 12 shots on the night were on frame.
Sophomore keeper Cedrik Stern registered a game-high four saves on the evening in his first start of the year.
With the loss, MU moves to 4-5-1 (1-2-0 BIG EAST) on the year while SJU improves to 9-1-0 (3-0-0 BIG EAST).

Coach Bennett and the Golden Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7:05 p.m. against the Green Bay Phoenix. The game will take place at Valley Fields as the team celebrates Hispanic Heritage Night.
