
No. 9 MU Falls in Four Sets at Creighton

Barber, Werch and Vanden Berg reach double-digit kills
OMAHA, Neb.—The 9th-ranked Marquette University volleyball team took set one over No. 12 Creighton, but could not maintain as the Golden Eagles fell, 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 19-25, 17-25) on Friday evening at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Allie Barber (13), Hope Werch (12) and Hannah Vanden Berg (11) each recorded double-digit kills, while Werch, Vanden Berg, Lauren Speckman and Sarah Rose added double-doubles in the match.
Werch and Vanden Berg collected 10 digs as Speckman dished out 18 assists with 11 digs and Rose handed out 19 assists with 10 digs.
Libero Martha Konovodoff collected 14 digs in the match.
The Golden Eagles (25-4, 15-2) held a lead in each set, but Creighton (23-4, 16-1) used a series of runs in each stretch, which MU could not recover.
The Bluejays had two players record double-digit kills and combined to hit .270 as a team.
Marquette will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep, which begins on Friday, Nov. 29. The Golden Eagles will play either St John's or Villanova at 2:30 CT.
