MILWAUKEE – Marquette University men's soccer seniors Luka Prpa and Patrick Seagrist have been selected to compete in the MLS College Showcase from Dec. 13-15 in Cary, N.C., it was announced today.
Â
40 players of all classes were selected to compete at the combine, which has changed in format from years past. Instead of the traditional MLS Combine, the league decided to host a player showcase game in conjunction with the College Cup, which also takes place this weekend.
Â
The senior captains were two of just 24 seniors to be selected for the event, and the only two players from the BIG EAST Conference set to compete. All NCAA players were eligible for selection besides those representing Wake Forest, Georgetown, Virginia and Stanford, who are competing in the College Cup Finals.
Â
Prpa and Seagrist have been instrumental to the success of MU soccer in the past four years. Prpa earned his fourth all-conference honor of his career this season after being named Second Team All-BIG EAST. He also finished his career ranked No. 8 all-time in program history in career assists.
Â
Prpa is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection.
Â
Seagrist earned his second consecutive First Team All-BIG EAST nod after a stellar senior season on the MU back line. He finished second in the conference in assists (seven) while also adding two goals. He joined Connor Alba as one of two Golden Eagles to start in all 18 games this season.
