The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday night at Kansas State
MILWAUKEE - Sacar Anim scored 19 points and Marquette rolled to a 75-56 victory over Jacksonville on Wednesday evening at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
Playing without the services of leading scorer Markus Howard, who sat out the game in concussion protocol, Marquette shot out to a 46-23 lead after 20 minutes while shooting 48.6 percent (17-of-35) from the floor. The Golden Eagles also assisted on 13 of their 17 first half field goals and hit 7-of-17 3-point attempts in the frame.
Redshirt junior Greg Elliott made his first start since his freshman season of 2017-18 in Howard's absence and posted seven points, five rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes of action. Fellow Michigander Jamal Cain notched a career-high 12 rebounds and a season-best eight points in the victory.
MU limited the Dolphins to 29.5 percent shooting from the floor (18-of-61) and a 5-of-20 performance from beyond the arc. Destin Barnes led JU with 12 points, while Bryce Workman was the only other player in double figures with 10 points.
Marquette resumes non-conference action on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas at 8 p.m.Â
