The four-member senior class finishes their careers with 101 victories
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.— The 2019 season came to a close on Saturday evening for the Marquette volleyball team as the Golden Eagles dropped a 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 17-25, 13-25) contest to 16th seed Purdue in the second round of the NCAA Championship.
Allie Barber led Marquette (28-6) with 15 kills, while Gwyn Jones and Hope Werch added seven and Hannah Vanden Berg and Ellie Koontz connected on six kills each.
Lauren Speckman and Sarah Rose dished out 21 and 19 assists, respectively as Werch collected 11 digs.
Marquette combined to hit .146 as Purdue (24-7) hit at a .341 hitting percentage with three Boilermakers in double figures. Caitlyn Newton tallied a match-high 23 kills.
Barber finishes her Marquette career with 1,871 career kills and is the Golden Eagles all-time leader.
