Golden Eagles close the weekend with a stellar victory
EAST LANSING, Mich.-- The Marquette women's tennis team rebounded after a Friday night loss with a stellar 6-1 decision over Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon played on the campus of Michigan State.
The Golden Eagles (6-4) got on the board first with the doubles point as the tandem of Milica Novakovic and Isabella Franks clinched the point at the No. 3 position with a 6-4 win. Novakovic was also responsible for the match-clinching point at No. 3 singles as she played to a 6-2, 6-4 win.Â
It was a true team win on Saturday with everyone contributing their best effort. Fleur Eggink won at the top position, 6-2, 6-3 as Natalija Popovic held on for a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win at the No. 2 spot. Alexandrina Chinikova and Franks won their singles matches for Marquette as well.
The Golden Eagles continue a seven-game road stretch in Omaha next weekend taking on conference foe Creighton and Nebraska-Omaha.
