COLLEGE STATION, Texas--Â The fifth seeded Marquette women's basketball team will play in the NCAA Tournament second round for the second consecutive season and take on No. 4 Texas A&M on Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m. CT at Reed Arena in College Station.

The Golden Eagles (27-7) earned their 27th win of the season as they battled through to a 58-54 overtime victory over No. 12 Rice in the first round. The 27 victories set a program record for most wins in a season.

Lowell Galindo and A'ja Wilson will call the action on Sunday as the two teams tip-off on ESPN2.

Senior Natisha Hiedeman led Marquette with 13 points, 10 in the second half, as classmate Allazia Blockton tallied 12 with sophomore Lauren Van Kleunen posting 10 points with nine rebounds in the victory. The Golden Eagles trailed by nine points with 2:54 left in the game before going on a 9-0 run to force overtime. It was the first extra period of the season for MU and the squad responded with a 6-2 advantage for the win.

Marquette is 6-11 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and 6-5 in the opening round, while head coach Carolyn Kieger improves to 2-2 and picked up her 99th career win on Friday. The Golden Eagles have never advanced past the second round.

The winner will play in the Sweet 16 round in Chicago on Saturday, March 30.
THE SERIES
This is just the second meeting between the Aggies and Marquette. Â The two schools faced off on Nov. 25, 2012 with Texas A&M taking an 84-64 victory in College Station.
