The Golden Eagles will take a full squad to Champaign on Saturday afternoon
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams head to Champaign, Illinois this weekend for the Illini Twilight. The meet will take place on Saturday April 13 at the Illinois Track Stadium on the University of Illinois campus.
The meet begins on Saturday at 1 p.m. with women's hammer throw and events on the track set to commence at 4 p.m.
This is the fifth weekend of the outdoor season for the Golden Eagles, who hosted the Marquette Invitational on April 5 at Valley Fields. MU kicked off its outdoor slate on March 15 at UCF and has three more event weekends prior to the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships on May 10-11 at Icahn Stadium in New York.
The Golden Eagles are led back into action this weekend by Daniel Armstrong and Keely Knobbe, who were honored on Monday as the BIG EAST Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, respectively. Each claimed two event titles at the Marquette Invitational with Armstrong claiming the men's high and long jumps, while Knobbe claimed top honors in the hammer throw and discus and was runner up in the shot put.
