Vassos is one of three Gonzaga College products to have played for the Golden Eagles
1. What is your proudest moment as a Marquette lacrosse player?
Luke Vassos: Winning our second Big-East championship. Not many people thought could win that year.
Â
2. What is your most memorable experience with the team?
Vassos: Traveling to Italy after my freshman year. Up until this day we still talk about the memories that were made on that trip.
Â
3. What's the best advice one of your coaches at MU has given you?
Vassos: I will never forget when coach Amplo this year said that the way you act now is the way you will act for the rest of your life, and that you control your attitude and mindset.
Â
4. What's the best advice a teammate has given you?
Vassos: Not to be afraid of failure and to enjoy the little things.
Â
5. What's the best advice you could offer future Marquette lacrosse players?
Vassos: Don't blink. Don't take any moment for granted. This whole journey can seem long at times, but by the time spring of your senior year comes around, you will realize it flew by. Buy in to what your teammates and coaches are telling you. Marquette lacrosse will challenge you and push you to limits you didn't know you had. What you learn as a Marquette lacrosse player will shape you as a man, and you will be thankful for every minute of it by the time it is over.
Â
6. What has motivated you?
Vassos: Wanting to be the best person possible. I wanted to play for a program that would challenge me, and help me become a better man, not just player.
Â
7. Most memorable game?
Vassos: Beating Denver freshman year in the Big East Championship
Â
8. Do you feel a rivalry developing with any opponents you have played?
Vassos: Villanova
Â
9. How do you think you've changed as a player or person over your career at Marquette?
Vassos: Marquette lacrosse sharpened my values by testing them. I've realized the amount of dedication and commitment it takes to get what you want in life.
Â
10. What have you learned that you will take with you as you move on from MU?
Vassos: I've learned that you have to have a positive mindset in every situation. It is easy to get down on yourself when things are not going your way, but a positive mindset will get you back in the right direction.
Â
11. What are your post-graduation plans?
Vassos: I plan on moving back to the D.C. area, and have accepted a sales job for a company in the city.
