Pederson and McGauley push up MU lists in day one at Drake

The Golden Eagles resume action at the Drake Relays on Friday and Saturday
DES MOINES, Iowa – Marquette University's distance runners kicked off action at the 2019 Drake Relays on Thursday afternoon at Drake Stadium.
Junior Daniel Pederson led the way for the Golden Eagles in the men's 5,000-meter run with a 16th-place finish in a time of 14:27.07. That mark is a new personal best and pushes Pederson past Brent Des Roches and into No. 6 all-time in program history.
Caitlin McGauley also pushed her way into MU's all-time top-10 list in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase earlier in the evening in 10:58.49. That puts her 10th in Marquette history.
Including Pederson and McGauley, 10 Golden Eagles set new personal bests on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles resume action on Friday and Saturday at Drake and some MU athletes will also compete on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
