Konopka wins 110m hurdles
NAPERVILLE, Ill.-- Five Marquette track and field athletes competed in the second night of the Gregory Invitational on Thursday evening hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
Ben Konopka crossed the finish line first in the 110m hurdles with a speedy 14.51 seconds, the fifth-best all-time mark, just behind his personal-best 14.48 second finish at the Drake Relays.Ā Konopka also competed in the 100m dash where he clocked in at 11.44 seconds.
Derek Gross took third in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.93, while Matthew Cavanaugh ran 4:08.88 in the 1,500m finishing 25th.
Daniel Pederson had a stellar turn in the 3,000m steeplechase as he finished in third place with a 9:19.59 time and Hannah GorinĀ crossed the finish line in sixth with a time of 11:26.04 in the same event on the women's side.
The majority of the Golden Eagles have completed their season, though four athletes will continue after advancing to the NCAA West Prelims taking place Memorial Day Weekend.
