Trip set for August 9-18 with stops in Barcelona and Paris
The Marquette University men's basketball team will embark on a foreign tour Aug. 9-18, highlighted by stops in Barcelona and France.
Â
The trip is the first overseas since the program visited Italy prior to the 2015-16 campaign. The NCAA currently allows teams to conduct a foreign tour every four years, allowing Marquette players the opportunity to take at least once trip during their respective careers.
Â
"It's a tremendous opportunity for our players and an experience they will remember the rest of their lives," head coach Steve Wojciechowski said. "It will be the first time out of the country for a number of our guys and a great chance to experience other cultures through the common bond of the game of basketball."
Â
The travel party will depart campus on Aug. 9 for Barcelona and spend three days in the city, including a pair of games, before leaving for Paris on Aug. 14. Along with a final competition, itinerary highlights include visiting the Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower and Normandy.
Â
Fans interested in following the team during its tour can do so on Twitter (@MarquetteMBB), Instagram (Marquette.basketball) and Facebook (MarquetteMensBB). The games won't be available live online, but highlights and statistics will be provided. Details for open practices prior to the team's departure are being finalized.Â
