MSOC to Hold Fan Fest on Sunday Afternoon
8/20/2019 4:32:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Event scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. outside of Valley Fields
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's soccer team will hold annual Fan Fest at Valley Fields on Sunday, Aug. 25 prior to an exhibition match against the Milwaukee Torrent. The event and game are free to attend and open to all.
Â
The Torrent, a semi-professional team based out of Milwaukee, plays in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
Fan Fest, which begins at 1 p.m. and is expected to conclude at the start of the match at 3:05 p.m., features a skills zone with current Marquette soccer players in addition to a giant inflatable foot darts game. The MU men's squad will participate in activities prior to their match and will be available to autograph their 2019 schedule posters, which can also be picked up on Sunday. The first 200 fans to arrive at Fan Fest will receive free vouchers for a Qdoba bar, which will be available at halftime of the exhibition match.
Marquette was picked to finish fourth in the 2019 BIG EAST Conference Preseason poll. Senior midfielder Luka Prpa and Patrick Seagrist were pegged as members of the preseason all-conference team after both earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors in 2018.
Â
The Golden Eagles came on strong down the stretch last season, winning five of their final seven games to get to the BIG EAST Championship game. MU fell one game short of advancing to its first NCAA tournament since 2013 after dropping a 2-0 decision to Georgetown.
Â
Led by 14th-year head coach Louis Bennett, expectations are high for a team that returns four all-conference team members and 10 position players who started matches last year.
Sunday's exhibition against the Milwaukee Torrent marks MU's final tune-up before it begins the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 against UAB at Valley Fields
