Golden Eagles Earn Thrilling Comeback Victory over Xavier

"I thought we controlled large portions of this game, although that doesn't guarantee that we win the game," MU head coach Louis Bennett said. "Even when we went down 1-0, our guys kept attacking and looked for ways to win. This is such a big win for us. I'm really pleased with our team as this is a really hard place to win."
MU trailed 1-0 after XU's Taylor Crull tapped in a goal off a deflected pass in the 60th minute to put his team ahead. The Golden Eagles responded just five minutes later to tie up the game when Josh Coan broke free on the left wing, received a pass from A.J. Franklin, then made a move to his left and buried his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

"This was a big win for our team and it feels great," Coan said. "Whenever your team can pick up three points, especially on the road, it's a big deal. I can't wait to build off this."
The Golden Eagles went up for good in the 77th minute when freshman Christian Marquez tapped in a beautiful cross from Alex Mirsberger for his second game-winning goal of the week. The assist from Mirsberger was his first of the season.

"This win only helps us build momentum," Marquez said. "To get the chance to score that goal and help my team win the game is a great feeling."
Redshirt freshman keeper Jackson Weyman, who improved to 4-3-1 on the season, saved four shots on the evening.
As a team, MU outshot the Musketeers 16-12 and earned four corner kicks, compared to just two for its opposition.
Coach Bennett's squad has now won two consecutive road games for the second straight year and they've taken four of their past seven games away from Valley Fields overall.
