Marquette Madness Returns Oct. 4 At 9 P.M.
9/6/2019 12:06:00 PM | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
Both teams hosting open practices on Oct. 5
This year's Marquette Madness, presented by Meijer, is set for Friday, October 4th at the Al McGuire Center at 9 p.m..
Â
The night's celebration serves as the annual introduction of the men's and women's basketball teams to the Marquette student body. On Saturday, Oct. 5, both squads will hold open practices, with the women's team scheduled for 9 a.m. and the men's team following at 10:30 a.m.
Â
While Friday evening's Marquette Madness is a student-only event, the open practices will be open to all fans.
Â
New to this year's Madness festivities will be a "street fair" outside the Al McGuire Center. North 12th Street, between Wisconsin and Wells, will be shut down to accommodate the fair. Activities include a live ESPN radio broadcast, basketball hoops, a variety of food vendors, and a 50-foot Ferris wheel. The street fair, presented by Meijer, will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and is free and open for all Marquette fans to attend.
Â
Doors will open for Marquette Madness at 8 p.m. and the night will again feature a multi-platinum recording artist, who will be announced at a later date.
Â
Saturday's open practices will serve as the first opportunity to pick up this season's official men's and women's basketball schedule posters. The practices will feature coaches "mic'd up" for instructions and drills. Those in attendance will also receive a copy of the day's practice plan, as well as a t-shirt while supplies last.
Â
At 2 p.m., fans will have access to an autograph session with both teams at the Homecoming Block Party at Marquette's Central Mall.
