MILWAUKEE – Former Marquette University men's soccer forward Josh Coan signed a professional contract with FC Tucson of USL League One on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
"I'm super excited to be able to continue my career at the professional level with such a great organization and club," Coan said. "I can't wait to get to Tucson and get to work."
Â
A forward from Indianapolis, Coan led Marquette in points (16) goals (6), shots (57) and shots on goal (32) in 18 games this past season. He also tallied four assists, which tied for second best on the team. He was named Third Team All-BIG EAST in addition to earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for his work in the classroom.
Â
Established in 2010, FC Tucson is participating in its second professional season in USL League One this year. In 2012, FC Tucson was named the USL League 2 Rookie Franchise of the Year.
Â
"It's been a pleasure getting to coach Josh these past couple years and he's very deserving of this opportunity," MU head coach Louis Bennett said. "He was a prolific scorer for us, this past season especially, and I know he'll add a lot of firepower to FC Tucson's offensive attack."
Coan took home the Golden Boot (top scorer) and Players Choice MVP awards at the team's end of season banquet.
