Marquette Looks To Turn Series Trend
  Â
Villanova holds a 24-11 advantage over Marquette in an all-time series that dates back to 1960.Â
  Â
Along with regular season and tournament matchups in league play, the two teams also squared off in the 1963 National Invitation Tournament and the 1980 NCAA Championship.  Marquette downed the Wildcats 66-58 in the NIT, but fell 77-59 in the opening round of the NCAA's in Providence, R.I.
  Â
The Wildcats have been ranked in the top-15 in 13 of the last 14 meetings against Marquette. Â The teams split the season series in 2018-19, with each squad winning on its respective home court. Â MU has won 2-of-3 against the Wildcats at home, including a 74-72 victory on Jan. 24, 2017 at the Bradley Center when Villanova was No. 1 in the nation.
Bailey Collects First Double-DoubleÂ
  Â
After narrowly missing his first career double-double in the non-conference finale against Central Arkansas (nine points, 12 rebounds), sophomore forward Brendan Bailey made sure that didn't happen again in the BIG EAST opener.
  Â
The Salt Lake City, Utah, native finished with 18 points and 11 boards in 33 minutes of action and also dished out three assists without a turnover. Â He finished 7-of-14 from the floor overall and 4-of-10 from long distance.
  Â
Bailey has scored double figures in points on three occasions in 13 appearances this season, after scoring 10-or-more points just twice all of 2018-19. Â He has grabbed a total of 23 rebounds in the last two games.
Morrow Makes Impact InsideÂ
  Â
Senior forward Ed Morrow has had two of his better games of the season in the team's last two matchups, contributing 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per outing against Central Arkansas and Creighton.
  Â
He netted a season-best 11 points in the victory over UCA and at Creighton chipped in eight points and six rebounds (tied season high) in just 19 minutes of action. Â Morrow's increased production has translated to more playing time. He has been on the court for 19.5 minutes per game in the last two contests, up from his season average of 13.1 minutes per outing.
