Match will take place inside the dome at Valley Fields
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's soccer team kicks off the 2020 spring season on Saturday, Feb. 29 with its annual alumni game. First touch is set for 8 p.m. Central time and the game will take place inside the dome at Valley Fields.
"Our alumni game is an event I look forward to every year," Marquette head coach Louis Bennett said. "It's a fantastic opportunity to connect our current team with the players of seasons past and to show them that the Marquette soccer family continues long after graduation."
Â
The alumni game will be the first of seven spring contests that the Golden Eagles will host, with all of them taking place inside the Valley Fields dome. Each spring session will be free of charge for spectators.
Â
Bennett and the Golden Eagles will be looking to build off their second consecutive season with a conference tournament bid in the upcoming 2020 season.
Â
One of their top goals as a team will be finding a way to replace the production of leading scorer Josh Coan and MLS Draft picks Patrick Seagrist (First Round, New York Red Bulls) and Luka Prpa (Second Round, Houston Dynamo).
Â
MU returns three of its top five scorers from 2019, including standout defender Manuel Cukaj and top strikers Lukas Sunesson and Christian Marquez. Each scored three goals and dished out one assist during the 2019 season.
