MU Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA Academic Awards

Coach Birren's teams earn GPA's over 3.5 for the semester
MILWAUKEE āĀ The Men's and Women's All-Academic Teams for the 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Ā
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.

The Marquette men's and women's cross country teams both earned All-Academic Team honors in 2019, with the men earning a 3.54 GPA and the women carrying a 3.6.
Ā
Dating back to 2009, it marks the eleventh time in the last 12 years the Golden Eagle men and women have earned the award.
Ā
The BYU men and the Arkansas women were honored as Scholar Teams of the Year. To achieve the highest honor, each team had to be the top finishing team for their gender and have accumulated a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2019 season.

Overall, there were 191 men's teams and 237 women's teams that received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division I.
