The Golden Eagles will play four home and four road games before Christmas
MILWAUKEE—Marquette women's basketball head coach Megan Duffy has announced the first month's schedule for the Golden Eagles, which features four non-conference games and four BIG EAST tilts. MU will play four home games and four road games in the first calendar month of the season.
Â
"We appreciate everyone's patience as we navigate daily changes with COVID-19 and scheduling," Duffy said. "Our goal in non-conference is to garner some great experience that will prepare us for BIG EAST competition. This will be the first time that both non-conference and BIG EAST games are intertwined this early, but we look forward to our season and being back on the court."
The Golden Eagles will begin their season on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. Central time on the road against the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks. UND went 15-15 (6-10 Big Sky) in 2019-20.
Â
MU's home lidlifter at the Al McGuire Center will be against Milwaukee on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. Two days later, coach Duffy and her team will open BIG EAST Conference play against the Providence Friars, with a 2 p.m. tip.Â
Â
The Golden Eagles will play their second and final non-conference home game against Prairie View A&M on Friday, Dec. 11 at noon.Â
Â
On Sunday, Dec. 13, MU will take to the road once again to complete its out of conference slate for a 2 p.m. matinee start at Belmont. The Bruins, who went 22-9 (16-2 Ohio Valley), came to Milwaukee last year and fell, 53-51, to the Golden Eagles. This will be the return game in the home-and-home series.Â
Â
MU will transition back to BIG EAST competition on Wednesday, Dec. 16 as the St. John's Red Storm come to town. MU swept the season series last year as SJU finished 19-12 (11-7 BIG EAST). Â
Â
The Golden Eagles will finish out their pre-Christmas schedule by playing consecutive road games at Seton Hall on Friday, Dec. 19 and Xavier on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Opening tip for the game at Seton Hall is slated for noon CTÂ while the Xavier game is set for 1 p.m. CT.
Â
All BIG EAST contests will be streamed by the BIG EAST Digital Network. Streaming availability is still to be determined for the non-conference games.Â
Scheduling beyond Christmas day is still yet to be determined.
