Lott scored 17 of her team-high 26 points in the first half
CINCINNATI, Ohio -Â The Marquette women's basketball team moved to 3-1Â (1-0 BIG EAST) on the season with a 86-75 road win over Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon.
Senior guard Selena Lott scored 17 of her team-high 26 points in the first 20 minutes as the Golden Eagles built a 49-30 lead heading into halftime. Despite a cold shooting start to the second half, Lott and MU were able to hold off UC, who cut the game to single-digits midway through the third quarter.
Lauren Van Kleunen had a key five-point spurt in the third quarter that helped start an 18-9 run for MU as it stretched its lead back to double figures, where it stayed the rest of the afternoon. LVK and sophomore guard Jordan King were the second and third Golden Eagles to reach double figures, tallying 15 points apiece. King also set a career-high with eight rebounds.
Leading scorer and rebounder Camryn Taylor battled foul trouble throughout the game but was still able to tally her third double figure scoring output of the season, totaling 10 points and six rebounds.
A strong defensive effort paved the way to victory for MU, as it caused 18 turnovers and scored 21 points off those takeaways. The Golden Eagles also won the battle on the glass, 37-33, and held UC to just 18% (2/11) from 3-point range.
Imari'I Thomas led Cincinnati with a game-high 32 points and eight boards while Destiny Haymer had 13 and Jadyn Scott finished with nine points. The Bearcats dropped to 1-2 (0-0 AAC) with the loss.

-The Golden Eagles move to 10-6 on the road under Coach Duffy, including a 2-0 record this season.
-MU has won the rebounding battle in 34 of 36 games in the Coach Duffy era.
