MU returns to action Sunday morning at IUPUI
The Marquette University men's tennis team (3-4) dropped a narrow 4-3 decision at Purdue (7-4) Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Ind.
The loss snapped a two-match winning streak for the Golden Eagles, who return to action at IUPUI Sunday morning at 9 a.m. CT.
The match against the Boilermakers was the fourth against a Big Ten opponent for Marquette, which has also competed against Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin in dual action.
Purdue opened the match by claiming the doubles point with a pair of narrow 6-4 decisions at the No. 1 and 3 positions, respectively. Marquette was able to earn straight-set singles wins by seniors Brett Meyers and Brandon Shanklin and sophomore Fran San Andres, but was unable to find the fourth point necessary for the team victory.
