Series With Friars Full Of Memories
  Â
While the all-time series between Marquette and Providence consists of just 29 games (Marquette leads 19-10), the matchups do include a number of memorable contests for MU fans.
  Â
The two programs first met in the 1963 National Invitation Tournament and the result was a 70-64 victory by PC. Â The teams would cross paths four years later in the same event and a slim 81-80 Marquette overtime win helped the squad to a runner-up finish under head coach Al McGuire. Â
  Â
Guard Markus Howard added to the series' memorable moments on Jan. 3, 2018 when he netted a then school and BIG EAST record 52 points in the 95-90 overtime victory by Marquette at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
BIG EAST Schedule Enters Home StretchÂ
  Â
Marquette wrapped up a stretch of three-straight games against nationally ranked opponents on Tuesday against Creighton, a matchup that also marked the start of a run that sees the team play 3-of-4 games at Fiserv Forum.
  Â
Following Saturday's matchup at Providence, Marquette will host back-to-back home games, including Senior Day against No. 16/14 Seton Hall, on Feb. 29. Â The Golden Eagles will conclude the regular season with consecutive road games at DePaul and St. John's.
Theo John Doubles Up In Latest OutingÂ
  Â
Junior forward Theo John collected one of his best performances of the season against Creighton on Tuesday night, finishing with his second double-double (sixth career) of the campaign.
  Â
The Minneapolis, Minnesota, native finished 6-of-6 from the floor in 31 minutes of action, chipping in 12 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Â John is now in possession of 146 swats in his career and moved past Chris Otule (2008-14) for fifth all-time at Marquette.Â
  Â
John's double-figure scoring effort was his fourth of the season and first since Jan. 15 and the 12 points tied a personal best in 2019-20.
