
MU Track & Field Heads to Panther Tune-Up

Action from the Klotsche Center begins at 10 a.m. CT
MILWAUKEE—The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams head to the Klotsche Center to compete at Milwaukee for the second time this year at the Panther Tune-Up on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The meet is scheduled to begin with field events at 10 a.m. Central time, followed by running events at 2:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a successful weekend at the GVSU Big Meet, highlighted by Julian Wright's all-time school record-breaking sprint of 48.24 in the 400-meter dash. MU's performance in the mile and 5000-meter runs was also commendable, with 16 total PR's between the two events.
On the weekend, the Golden Eagles hit 24 PR's, 10 top-10 finishes and five all-time list marks.

MU competed at Milwaukee one time prior this season as a part of the John Tierney Invitational on Jan. 17. The women's squad earned six victories, while the men claimed eight.
The team also found themselves with two all-time school record-breaking performances in Julie Clayton, with a 3.93 m/12-10.72 ft height in pole vault, and with Samuel Johnson's time of 6.80 in the 60-meter dash.

- 2019 Second Team All-American Daniel Armstrong started his senior season off with a bang after finishing in first place in the high jump Dec. 6 at Notre Dame with a height of 2.16 meters/7 feet, 1 inch.
- Julie Clayton set school and facility records with her PR in the pole vault (Jan. 18), winning the event with a height of 3.93 m/12-10.72 ft.
- Cameron Jemison hit the No. 7 all-time mark in program history in the pole vault with a height of 4.65 meters/15 feet, 3 inches in the first meet of the season (Dec. 6).
- Freshman Julian Wright's record-breaking performance in the 400-meter dash highlighted the GVSU Big Meet as he broke the school record with a time of 48.24. Teammate and fellow freshman Zachariah Murray finished less than a half second behind him at 48.41 (No. 3 all-time).
- Julian Wright's 200m time (Feb. 14) of 21.92 is No. 4 in program history.
- Arianna Mansavage won the 400m at Iowa (Jan. 30) with a PR time of 56.11, the fourth-best all-time in MU indoor history. She's a two-time BIG EAST notable performer this year.
- Sophomore thrower Lizzy Cagle made the top-10 all-time at MU in the weight throw (17.39 m/57-0.75 ft) with her performance at Parkside (Feb. 8).
- Freshman Juru Okwaramoi (60-meter hurdles) ran a 9.17 in her collegiate debut, a time which landed her in ninth all-time in program history for the event.
- Joe Keys won the 60-meter hurdles at Milwaukee with a new PR of 8.25 (T-3rd all-time).
- Samuel Johnson (6.80) and Julian Wright (6.82) broke the school record in the 60-meter dash on their way to first and second place finishes (record was 6.84 by Josh Word). Daniel Bendel (6.86), who came in third, moves up to No. 4 in school history.
- Allie Flando took home wins in both the shot put (13.66 m/44-9.80 ft) and weight throw (17.33 m/56-10.25 ft) at the John Tierney Classic (Jan. 18).
- Mary Hanson (4:59.10) won the mile on Jan. 18 while Kate Jochims (5:04.37) and Caitlin McGauley (5:05.00) finished third and fourth, each setting PR's.
- Jefferson Osunkwo's triple jump of 13.90m/45-7.25 feet (Jan. 25) is a personal record and the No. 9 mark all-time at MU.
- Juru Okwaramoi's 60-meter hurdles time of 9.05 (Jan. 25) is No. 7 all-time at MU.
- Madison Marko's time of 9.15 in the 60-meter hurdles (Jan. 25) is No. 10 all-time. Her pentathlon score of 3,506 points is fourth all-time at MU.
- Joe Keys beat his heptathlon school record (Feb. 8) by over 300 points (5,667 points), a score that ranks him in the top-10 nationally this year.
- Daniel Pederson's time of 14:30.85 at the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 7) in the 5000m is No. 5 all-time at MU. He beat his previous PR by .03 seconds.
