Golden Eagles travel to Madison Thursday night
The Marquette University men's tennis team (1-3) heads to Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. CT before hosting Valparaiso at the Helfaer Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 6-1 win over Green Bay this past Sunday in the home opener. Thursday's match will mark 4-of-5 on the road for Marquette, with three coming against Big Ten opponents. MU has already faced Minnesota and Iowa.
Wisconsin is 7-1 so far on the season, with its only loss coming to Princeton, 6-1. MU lost to Princeton as well, 4-3, last week.
"It's always a challenge playing on the road and that is only magnified when we go to Wisconsin," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "We did some good things in both singles and doubles on Sunday, but need to translate that momentum to Thursday's match as well."
Valparaiso is 2-2 on the season, dropping matches to Butler and Western Michigan. Marquette is 5-0 all-time against the Crusaders.
Following the matches on Thursday and Sunday, MU return to action in West Lafayette against Purdue on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. CT.
