
Women's basketball loses 88-74 in BIG EAST title game to DePaul

CHICAGO - Selena Lott scored 26 points and Lauren Van Kleunen added 22 but Marquette fell, 88-74, to No. 15 DePaul in the championship game of the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament, presented by Jeep, on Monday evening at Wintrust Arena.
The Golden Eagles (24-8) shot 58 percent from the floor (29-of-50) on the night, but had 27 possessions end in turnovers, resulting in a 30-10 edge in second chance points for the Blue Demons. Marquette led by six points late in the first quarter and held an 18-17 edge following 10 minutes in Chicago.
DePaul (28-5) had three players finish in double figures, led by 31 points from Lexi Held, while guard Kelly Campbell posted 16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.Â
MU limited the Blue Demons to 42 percent shooting from the field, though DePaul shot 58.3 percent from 3-point range (14-of-24).
Van Kleunen earned all-tournament honors for her play during MU's three-game stay in Chicago.
