Wolf, Savannah Rennie and Hope Werch were all named to the All-BIG EAST Team
NEW YORK - The Marquette University graduate students Taylor Wolf, Hope Werch and Savannah Rennie were each named to the All-BIG EAST Conference Team, while Wolf also earned BIG EAST Co-Player of the Year, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
All three players earned BIG EAST postseason recognition last season, while Werch is on the All-BIG EAST Team for the third time in her career. Both Wolf and Werch were unanimous selections this year.
Wolf sits second in all of NCAA Division I volleyball with seven triple-doubles on the year and is among the BIG EAST's leaders in hitting percentage (eighth, .311), kills (10th, 2.89/set), assists (11th, 5.42/set), service aces (31 total aces), and digs (2.70/set). The graduate student rarely leaves the court, serving as both a right side hitter and setter in MU's 6-2 offense, and was a two-time Horizon League Player of the Year during her time at Green Bay. She joins Allie Barber (2017 and 2019) as the only MU players to earn the award.
Â
Werch has totaled 3.02 kills per set while leading the BIG EAST with 0.51 service aces per frame. The six-rotation hitter sits atop the MU career leaderboard for service aces and is the first Marquette player to reach 1,000 kills, 1,000 digs and 150 service aces. The graduate student earned an All-BIG EAST selection the previous two seasons, was an AVCA All-East Coast Region honoree in 2019 and the 2017 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year.
Â
Rennie makes her second-straight appearance on the all-conference team after transferring to MU from the University of California. The middle blocker has totaled 286 kills on a .322 hitting percentage in the regular season, while adding a team-best 109 blocks.Â
Â
The Golden Eagles secured the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST and will face No. 3 seed UConn in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Central time at the Al McGuire Center.
