Short Series Has Plenty Of Highlights
  Â
Marquette has faced UConn on just 11 occasions all-time, but the limited series has already provided a number of memories.
  Â
The Golden Eagles own a 6-5 advantage, dating back to the program's first year in the BIG EAST in 2005-06.  MU hosted the Huskies at the Bradley Center on Jan. 3, 2006 in the team's first home game as a member of the BIG EAST Conference.  Steve Novak finished with 41 points and 16 rebounds and Jerel McNeal chipped in 19 points and 12 boards in a 94-79 Marquette victory over No. 2 UConn to hand the Huskies their first loss of the season.
  Â
Other series highlights include a game-winning shot by Jimmy Butler with three seconds left in a 70-68 win on the road on Jan. 30, 2010 and an overtime win by Marquette at home on Jan. 1, 2013 when Junior Cadougan forced the extra session on at 3-pointer as time expired in regulation.
  Â
At least one of the teams has been nationally ranked in 7-of-11 outings.
Elliott Provides Bench Scoring Boost         Â
  Â
Guard Greg Elliott leads the team in scoring the past two outings, contributing 20.0 points per game in nearly 27 minutes of action per outing off the bench.
  Â
Against UCLA and Xavier, the Detroit native combined to shoot 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the floor and 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) from behind the 3-point line. Â He also knocked down 6-of-7 free throw opportunities and found time to chip in 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
  Â
Elliott finished 7-of-12 from the floor overall, including a 6-of-9 effort from behind the 3-point line, en route to a career-best 22 points versus the Bruins. Â He followed that up with an 18-point effort at Xavier on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor.
  Â
Elliott, who missed the first four games of the season, hadn't scored more than eight points in any one outing in 2021-22 prior to Dec. 11. Â He concluded last season with four double-figure point totals in the final six outings.
