MILWAUKEE – The Marquette women's basketball team travels to Providence for a BIG EAST game on Saturday, Feb. 13 at noon Central time. FloHoops holds the streaming rights and Mike Manusco (play-by-play) and Meghan Caffrey (analyst) will be on the call.

The Golden Eagles (13-4, 10-3 BIG EAST) are coming off a challenging weekend in which they faced No. 3/5 UConn and No. 20/21 DePaul in a three-day span. The Golden Eagles fell to the Huskies, 87-58, and to the Blue Demons, 87-82. Prior to those two games, MU had won six in a row. The Golden Eagles got back in the winning column Wednesday at Butler.

MU is anchored by seniors Selena Lott (14.9 ppg.) and Lauren Van Kleunen (12.5 ppg.) and returned eight contributors from last season. This includes BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection Camryn Taylor, who's averaging 11.2 points and 6.9 rebounds.

MU has gone with a nine-player rotation this season with sophomore Jordan King (10.0 ppg.) and Chloe Marotta (6.5 reb.) joining the starters. Claire Kaifes, Liza Karlen, Taylor Valladay and Antwainette Walker all play between 8-20 minutes per game.

Lott has developed into one of the top all-around players in the country in 2020-21. She leads the team in scoring, assists, steals, blocks and free throw percentage. She ranks in the top 10 individually in the BIG EAST in seven statistical categories.

Providence (6-8, 4-5 BIG EAST) is led by fourth-year head coach Jim Crowley, who led the Friars to a 13-19 overall record and a 3-15 mark in the BIG EAST (eighth place) in 2019-20. They've won six of 14 games this season with conference wins over Creighton, Butler twice and St. John's. The Friars were on pause due to COVID-19 from Jan. 11 through Feb. 2 before resuming action against Villanova.

• The Marquette women's basketball team bounced back with a 77-48 win over the Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
• Junior forward Chloe Marotta led a group of four Golden Eagles (13-4, 10-3 BIG EAST) to reach double figures, scoring 10 of her 12 points in the first half. Jordan King and Selena Lott each had 11 points and filled up the stat sheet, with King bringing down a career-best nine rebounds and Lott adding in seven assists.
• Freshman guard Rose Nkumu came off the bench to tally a career-best eight points, all coming in the second half.
• MU started the second half making seven of its first 10 shots to burst out to a 51-29 lead. The lead would get as large as 29 as the Golden Eagles found their stride to earn their 10th conference victory of the season.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS – ALL-TIME SERIES
• Seven of the 10 players on PC's roster are upperclassmen, including four seniors and three juniors.
• Junior forward Mary Baskerville leads PC in scoring (13.2 ppg) and rebounding (5.3 reb.). The three-year starter is coming off a sophomore season in which she averaged 11.8 pts and 7.6 boards, which were both good for first on the team.
• Upperclassmen guards Kyra Spiwak (11.4 ppg), Alyssa Geary (10.8 ppg) and Chanell Williams (10.4 ppg) make up most of the rest of the scoring load. No one else averages more than four points per game.
• Marquette is 18-5 all-time against the Friars and have won the past seven in a row, including an 89-40 triumph over PC on Dec. 4 at the Al McGuire Center.
• MU has won 12 of the past 13 in the series, with the loss coming in a 66-64 thriller at Providence on Jan. 27, 2017.

• Marquette defeated Butler 77-48 on Wednesday to improve to 13-4 (10-3 BIG EAST), cementing the programs fifth consecutive season with 10-or-more conference wins.
• Senior guard Selena Lott became the 30th Golden Eagle in program history to hit the 1,000-point mark on Jan. 27 at Villanova. She netted a team-high 27 points along with 11 assists, her second double double of the season.
• The Golden Eagles are 29-1 under Coach Duffy when leading at halftime and 19-1 when they turn the ball over fewer times than their opponent.
• MU is 11-1 when scoring more than 80 points under Coach Duffy and 25-3 when shooting more free throws than its opponent. The Golden Eagles have scored 80-or-more points six times this year (5-1).
• In the 49 games of the Coach Duffy era, the Golden Eagles have outrebounded or tied their opponent 46 times (35-11 record). They'll look to continue that streak this week.

ROAD WARRIORS
• Marquette has spent a lot of time on the road this season, playing 10 of its first 16 games away from home. None of these have been neutral site games and have all been classified as "true" road games.
• The Golden Eagles are 9-1 in those true road games, including a 6-1 mark in BIG EAST play. The nine road wins MU has currently leads the country.
• The only road loss came to Seton Hall on Jan. 15, which was the Golden Eagles first game since Dec. 22 after the team went through a pause in team activities due to a positive COVID-19 test in the program.
• In non-conference play, MU defeated North Dakota, Belmont and Cincinnati on the road.

KAIFES KILLING IT FROM 3-POINT RANGE
• A sophomore from Shawnee, Kansas, Claire Kaifes played in 24 games in 2019-20, averaging one point and 1.4 rebounds per game, shooting just 28.1 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from 3-point range.
• After a slow start this season, Kaifes has been on fire since the new year hit. Since Jan. 15, Kaifes is shooting a team-best 42 percent (15/36) from 3-point range. She has hit multiple threes in five of the last 10 games, including a career-high of four 3-pointers in a Jan. 24 win at Butler.
• She hit three key long balls on Feb. 7 against DePaul to help bring MU back from a 17-point deficit.

HAVING A LOTT OF FUN
• Senior guard Selena Lott is coming off a breakout season that helped her garner significant preseason acknowledgement both around the conference and nationally.
• So far in 2020-21, Lott leads the team in scoring (15.1) and assists (4.7) while ranking fourth in rebounding (5.4). She ranks in the top 10 in the BIG EAST in scoring, assists, free throw %, 3-point %, 3FG made, minutes and assist/turnover ratio.
• The team's best all-around player, Lott has 45 double figure scoring games in her career. She notched her first career double double in a win at Belmont (12/13) grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 18 points and five assists. She posted her second on 1/27 at Villanova with 27 points and 11 assists while breaking the 1,000-career point mark.
• Lott netted a season-best 30 points in a win at St. John's on Jan. 17 in her home state of New York.

KARLEN PROVIDES A KICK OFF THE BENCH
• Freshman forward Liza Karlen has been one of the first players to see the floor off the bench for Marquette this season. She's played in 15 games and averages 5.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in just 12.9 minutes per game. She's also shooting 50.8 percent (fourth on team) and 46.2 percent from three (first).
• Karlen has scored in every game but one and registered a career-high 10 points in a win at Xavier on 4-of-5 shooting (Dec. 22). She's also posted six games with five rebounds or more this year.
