Jochims, Voudrie and Evans earn top-10 efforts
The Marquette University track & field teams continued their respective indoor seasons at the Panther Tune-Up on Sunday, hosted by UW-Milwaukee.
"Overall a big step forward today," head coach Bert Rogers said. "We won several events and had a number of big performances. I like where this team is headed."
The day's results were highlighted by multiple event titles (12 total) by both the men's and women's teams, including four top-10 efforts and 21 personal records.
Junior Vinnie Voudrie placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 57-11.25, the 10th-best effort in program history. Classmate Molly Evans put her name in the record book as well, winning the triple jump with an effort of 34-4.75, also the 10-best performance by a Golden Eagle. Marquis Ward went 48-0.5 in the triple jump, the sixth-best distance in school history.
Kate Jochims finished second in the 5000m with a personal-best time of 17:00.56, good enough for No. 8 on the all-time list at Marquette.
Marquette will continue the indoor season on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Parkside Triangular #2. MU, Milwaukee and the host Rangers will be competing for the third-straight weekend.
