#MUWBB Hosts Rival DePaul on Super Bowl Sunday

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette women's basketball team is set to host No. 20/21 DePaul at the Al McGuire Center on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Central time. FS1 holds the television rights and Bob Brainerd (play-by-play) and Michelle Wenzel (analyst) will be on the call. Fans can watch on FS1 or the FOX Sports app by logging in with their cable credentials.

The Golden Eagles (12-3, 9-2 BIG EAST) have won six of their last seven conference games since dropping their first BIG EAST contest at Seton Hall on Jan. 15 after coming off a two week pause.

MU is anchored by seniors Selena Lott (15.3 ppg.) and Lauren Van Kleunen (12.3 ppg.), and returned eight overall contributors from last season. This includes BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection Camryn Taylor, who's averaging 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds as a sophomore this year.

MU has gone with a nine-player rotation this season with sophomore Jordan King (9.3 ppg.) and Chloe Marotta (6.6 reb.) joining the starters. Claire Kaifes, Liza Karlen, Taylor Valladay and Antwainette Walker all play between 10-20 minutes per game off the bench.

Lott has developed into one of the top all-around players in the country in 2020-21. She leads the team in scoring, assists, steals, blocks and free throw percentage. She ranks in the top 10 individually in the BIG EAST in seven statistical categories.

The Blue Demons have five players averaging double figures in scoring and are second in the conference in points per game at 83.3. Led by Sonya Morris (18.3 ppg.), they like to push the tempo and play at a blistering pace. This will be the first of two matchups on the season between MU and DePaul.

• The Marquette women's basketball team fell 87-58 to the No. 3/5 UConn Huskies on Friday night at the Al McGuire Center.
• Lauren Van Kleunen led MU with 18 points and six rebounds while Camryn Taylor tallied 10 points and 11 boards. Taylor Valladay also chipped in seven points and a pair of assists.
• Paige Bueckers led UConn with 30 points while Christyn Williams had 18 and Aaliyah Edwards added in 11.

• DePaul is led by 35th-year head coach Doug Bruno. Under his watch, the Blue Demons have won 731 games. DPU earned an automatic berth in the 2020 NCAA tournament for after winning its fifth BIG EAST Tournament crown in the last seven years. They have earned a bid 18 years in a row.
• DePaul's potential game-breaking performer is Sonya Morris (18.3 points a game). The Blue Demons have four other double-figure scorers including Lexi Held (15.5 points a game), Dee Bekelja (13.6), Deja Church (12.4) and Darrione Rogers (11).
• The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 47-29 against the Golden Eagles. However, MU has won three of the past six matchups, including a 90-83 win on senior day last year. Lauren Van Kleunen and Selena Lott combined for 42 points in the win over No. 16/15 DePaul.
• Eight days later, DePaul returned the favor with an 88-74 win in the BIG EAST tournament final.

• Senior guard Selena Lott became the 30th Golden Eagle in program history to hit the 1,000 point mark on Jan. 27 at Villanova. She netted a team-high 27 points along with 11 assists, her second double double of the season.
• The Golden Eagles are 28-1 under Coach Duffy when leading at halftime and 18-1 when they turn the ball over fewer times than their opponent.
• MU is 11-0 when scoring more than 80 points under Coach Duffy and 24-3 when shooting more free throws than its opponent. The Golden Eagles have scored 80-or-more points five times this year (5-0).

• So far in 2020-21, Lott leads the team in scoring (15.3) and assists (4.7) while ranking third in rebounding (5.3). She ranks in the top 10 in the BIG EAST in scoring, assists, free throw percentage, 3-point percentage, 3FG made, minutes and assist/turnover ratio.
• The team's best all-around player, Lott has 43 double figure scoring games in her career. She notched her first career double double in a win at Belmont (12/13) grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 18 points and five assists. She posted her second on 1/27 at Villanova with 27 points and 11 assists while breaking the 1,000-career point mark.
• Lott netted a season-best 30 points in a win at St. John's on Jan. 17 in her home state of New York.
