MILWAUKEE – The Marquette women's basketball team will conclude a three-game homestand against Butler at the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Central time. FloHoops holds the streaming rights and Patrick Reed (play-by-play) and Meghan McKeown (analyst) will be on the call.
Â
The Golden Eagles (12-4, 9-3 BIG EAST) are coming off a challenging weekend in which they faced No. 3/5 UConn and No. 20/21 DePaul in a three-day span. The Golden Eagles fell to the Huskies, 87-58, and to the Blue Demons, 87-82. Prior to those two games, MU had won six in a row. The Golden Eagles will try to get back in the winning column against Butler.
Â
MU is anchored by seniors Selena Lott (15.1 ppg.) and Lauren Van Kleunen (12.9 ppg.) and returned eight contributors from last season. This includes BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection Camryn Taylor, who's averaging 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds this season.
Â
MU has gone with a nine-player rotation this season with sophomore Jordan King (10.0 ppg.) and Chloe Marotta (6.5 reb.) joining the starters. Claire Kaifes, Liza Karlen, Taylor Valladay and Antwainette Walker all play between 8-20 minutes per game off the bench.
Â
Lott has developed into one of the top all-around players in the country in 2020-21. She leads the team in scoring, assists, steals, blocks and free throw percentage. She ranks in the top 10 individually in the BIG EAST in seven statistical categories.
Â
Butler (1-12, 1-11 BIG EAST) is led by seventh-year head coach Kurt Godlevske, whose 88 wins mark the fourth-most by a coach in program history. BU didn't start its season until Dec. 5 out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19. The Bulldogs last played on Jan. 31, a 90-53 loss to Villanova. Conversely, this will be MU's sixth game in the last 12 days.
