Andrade Scores Golden Goal to Beat Creighton

OMAHA, Nebraska - The No. 25 Marquette men's soccer team got its revenge against the Creighton Bluejays, avenging a loss in late February with a 2-1 overtime victory today at Morrison Stadium.

Zyan Andrade scored his second game-winning goal of the season in the 94th minute on a pass from Christian Marquez to send the Golden Eagles (6-1-1, 3-1-1 BIG EAST) into an emphatic celebration.

With the win, Marquette takes sole possession of first place in the BIG EAST Midwest Division with three conference games to play.

Freshman striker Beto Soto started the scoring in the 13^th minute, taking a through ball from Andrade for a left-footed finish to put MU up 1-0.

MU led 1-0 for the rest of the first half and a few minutes of the second half before Creighton's Jake Ronneberg scored in the 48^th minute to tie the game at one.

Each team had several chances to finish the game in regulation but couldn't convert. For the sixth time in eight games, MU headed to overtime.

It took less than four minutes for MU to end the match as Andrade scored to lead the cardiac kids to another thrilling overtime win.

MU outshot Creighton 11-9 and played the final 86 minutes of the game a man-up after CU's Jake O'Malley exited with a red card early in the first half.

Chandler Hallwood saved three shots for MU and earned his fifth win of the year.
