
Eichhorn ties for fifth, Marquette 13th, at The Hootie

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Easter Sunday in Florida

AWENDAW, South Carolina – Marquette University redshirt junior Hunter Eichhorn tied for fifth place and the Golden Eagles finished 13th following Tuesday's final round at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, South Carolina.
Eichhorn, who entered the day tied for second and just two strokes from the lead, recorded an even-par 72 on Tuesday. The Carney, Michigan native dropped three strokes through his first 14 holes, but recorded three birdies on his final four to climb back up the leaderboard. He shot a 4-under 68 in Monday's second round and ended the week with three rounds of par-or-better, including a 2-under 70 in Sunday's first.
The Golden Eagles placed 13th as a team (294-288-296--878) after shooting an 8-over 296 on Tuesday. NC State earned the event win at 18-under par, followed by Missouri at 16-under. Marquette finished one stroke ahead of Kansas, a squad they were tied with following Monday's second round.
Nicolás Evangelio, who tied for 49th overall, carded a team-high five birdies on Monday and kept that momentum going with a team-low 1-under 71 on Tuesday with another five birdies. He finished at 4-over par for the week (75-74-71--220).
Redshirt sophomore Tyler Leach tied for 64th after firing a 5-over 77 on Tuesday, following a 2-under 70 on Monday. Josh Robinson (T76 (+10), 73-76-77--226) and Aidan Lafferty (T86 (+15), 77-78-76--231) rounded out MU's lineup in the No. 4 and 5 spots.
The Golden Eagles now have five days off before beginning the Calusa Cup on Easter Sunday at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
