Richard posted 30 saves in a 2-0 week to earn his first national honor
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Marquette University redshirt freshman Sean Richard was named to the USILA National Team of the Week, it was announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association
Richard made 30 saves in the first two conference wins of his career and posted a .682 save percentage with a 6.11 goals against average in 137:31. The redshirt freshman tied a MU program record with 18 saves against the Friars on Saturday while allowing just six goals in 75:57 in net.
The honor is the first such award of his career and MU's first national recognition since Mason Woodward was recognized on Feb. 4, 2020 for his play in his NCAA debut at Cleveland State on Feb. 1 of last year.
The Golden Eagles continue BIG EAST play on Saturday with an 11 a.m. Central time matchup at Villanova.

A - Jared Bernhardt, Maryland / vs. Ohio State / paced the Terps with 7 points on 6 goals and an assist ... scored the first 3 goals in a 7-0 run and broke open what was a one-goal advantage (4-3) that turned into an 11-3 lead midway through the third quarter.
A - Charlie Kitchen, Delaware / vs. Hofstra / Turned in a 9-point performance in the win over Hofstra that saw him score 6 goals on 9 shots ... scored 5 of his 6 goals in the second half to help the Blue Hens overcome a 4-goal halftime deficit and defeat Hofstra on the road.
A - Richie LaCalandra, LIU / vs. Mount St. Mary's / Scored 11 points on 6 goals and 5 assists ... scored 6-consecutive goals for LIU between the first and third quarters and then provided the assist on 5 of the next 6 goals, including each of the first 4.
A - Mac O'Keefe, Penn State / vs. Michigan / Scored 8 points on 6 goals and 2 assists en route to breaking the NCAA all-time goals record, passing Duke's Justin Guterding (2015-18) mark of 212 ... also scored the game-winner in overtime against Michigan.
D - JT Giles-Harris, Duke / vs. Virginia / Anchored a defense that held Virginia scoreless for the final 18:04 for a 13-12 road victory ... matched up against Matt Moore, he held UVA's leading scorer to just two goals, the second-fewest points in a game this season ... Giles-Harris also contributed a crucial assist in the third quarter - the first of his career.
LSM - Jeff Durden, Navy / vs. Loyola / Scored 2 goals, including the game-winner, while also grabbing a career-high 6 ground balls in the Mids' win over #15 Loyola ... Durden's goal snapped a Loyola run of 6-consecutive goals with his game-winner coming just 9 seconds after the Greyhounds tied it up ...it was the program's first win over Loyola on its home field.
FO - James Reilly, Georgetown / vs. Denver / Won 16 of the 24 draws (66.7) he took against two of the nation's top faceoff men in Alec Stathakis (4-12) and TD Ierlan (4-12).
FO - Mike Sisselberger, Lehigh / vs. Lafayette / Won 44 of the 52 draws (84.6) he took in two games against Lafayette, while grabbing 41 ground balls and scoring a goal.
GK - Owen McElroy, Georgetown / vs. Denver / Made a season-best 14 stops in goal while holding the high-powered Denver offense under its season average of 15 goals ... also turned in a pair of assists in what was Georgetown's first win regular-season win over Denver.
