
Golf concludes action at The Calusa Cup

NAPLES, Florida – Tyler Leach led the way with a final round 1-under 71 as the Marquette University men's golf team wrapped up action at The Calusa Cup on Tuesday at the Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples.
The Golden Eagles finished ninth as a team at 46-over par (299-315-296--910) and were 8-over on Tuesday. No. 2 Oklahoma earned The Calusa Cup by posting a 6-under 282 on Tuesday for a tournament total of a 5-under par 859.
Leach had six birdies on Tuesday to turn in MU's lowest score, while redshirt sophomore transfer Nicolás Evangelio shot a 1-over 73 with a pair of birdies. Evangelio was Marquette's No. 2 finsher at 13-over for the tournament (76-80-73) and tied for 36th with 229 strokes.
Redshirt junior Hunter Eichhorn led Marquette this week and finished in a tie for 29th at 10-over (70-79-77--226). He shot a team-best 2-under 70 in the opening round on Easter before posting a 79 in Monday's second round. The Carney, Michigan native was tied for second after the first day of action but could not maintain his spot on the leaderboard as the week progressed. The par-5 18th provided an interesting view of Eichhorn's week as he recorded an eagle, birdie and double bogey over the course of three rounds.
Leach was MU's third finisher at 14-over par (80-79-71--230) in 38th place, while Aidan Lafferty (75-77-81--233) and Josh Robinson (78-86-75--239) were the fourth and fifth finishers, respectively. Lafferty tied for 41st at +17 and Robinson was 45th at +23.
The Golden Eagles are off next week and play their last event prior to the BIG EAST Championships on April 17-18 in Iowa City, Iowa for the Hawkeye Invitational.
