Karissa McLaughlin and Kennedi Myles join MU from the Big Ten
MILWAUKEE - Marquette University women's basketball head coach Megan Duffy and her staff have announced two transfer additions to the Golden Eagles' 2021 recruiting class.
The two new additions are Big Ten transfers Karissa McLaughlin (Fort Wayne, Ind./Purdue University) and Kennedi Myles (Cincinnati, Ohio/University of Illinois), who signed their letters of intent and are set join the program for summer workouts. McLaughlin has one year of eligibility remaining while Myles has three.

"We are thrilled to welcome Karissa and Kennedi to our Marquette family," Duffy said. "They both bring great skill sets and leadership to our program. Their experience playing in the Big Ten will allow them to make a significant impact both on and off the court."
The 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year in Indiana, McLaughlin was a McDonald's All-American nominee and a top-25 ranked player in the country coming out of Homestead High School.
Since then, she started in 98 of the 105 career games she played in at Purdue, averaging 12.8 points, 3.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. She averaged 10.4, 15.0 and 13.1 points per game in her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, respectively. McLaughlin played just seven games in 2020-21 before having to sit out the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

As a freshman, she started in 29 of 30 games for the Illini, ranking second on the team in scoring (8.9) and minutes (28.0) and led the team in rebounding (8.7), steals (61) and blocks (21). She set a freshman record with 251 rebounds, eclipsing the mark set by all-time leading rebounder Jenna Smith (233) as a freshman in 2006-07. Myles also had a freshman record with eight double-doubles.Â
Prior to her time at Illinois, the McDonald's All-American nominee was a two-time Eastern Cincinnati Conference Player of the Year (2016-17, 2017-18) and was recognized as an All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference player four times.
