MILWAUKEE – The No. 19 Marquette University women's volleyball team swept Providence, 25-14, 25-16, 25-16 on Saturday night at the Al McGuire Center to cap its 10-match homestand with its 11th straight victory.Â
The Golden Eagles (13-1, 4-0 BIG EAST) were led by middle blocker Hattie Bray with a career-high 11 kills on .647 hitting. All 17 active players saw action for MU, which hit a combined .355 (49-11-107).
Providence (8-8, 0-4 BIG EAST) was led by Shaliyah Rhoden with nine kills, while PC was held to a .060 hitting percentage (25-19-100).Â
NOTABLE:Â
- The Golden Eagles push their program-record start through 14 matches to 13-1.
- MU is undefeated in all 15 meetings against Providence.
- Freshman Sienna Ifill made her first career start for Marquette, while Anastasija Svetnik started her first match of the year.
- Svetnik hit .714 and notched a new high in an MU uniform with six kills. The middle blocker also had an ace and two digs in two sets of play.
- Brookfield-native Caroline Dragani racked up five assists and a pair of digs in extended third-set action.
- Libero Carly Skrabak posted a kill in consecutive matches on a set in the third frame. She ended her night with 14 digs and a pair of service aces.
