MSOC Hosts Seton Hall and UConn This Week

Golden Eagles return home for a pair of BIG EAST matchups
The Marquette University men's soccer team (4-6-2, 0-1-1 BIG EAST) returns home to Valley Fields this week as it continues BIG EAST play with a pair of matches. The Golden Eagles will first host the Seton Hall Pirates (5-1-5, 2-0-3 BIG EAST) on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. (CT), before taking on UConn (3-6-1, 1-3-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.
Despite scoring just 15 goals in 11 contests, the Pirates enter Wednesday's match with just one loss on the year along with five wins and five draws. They are currently tied with Xavier atop the league standings with nine points coming on two wins and three draws, most recently defeating UConn 1-0 on Saturday. Junior midfielder Quenzi Huerman leads the squad in points (13), goals (5) and assists (3).
The Huskies enter the week just two spots ahead of Marquette in the league standings with four points coming on a win over Providence and a draw to Creighton. Sophomore midfielder Mateo Leveque has been the team's top facilitator this year and ranks second in the league with five assists. UConn will play a non-conference matchup against Maine at Fort Kent on Wednesday before traveling to Milwaukee.
BY THE NUMBERS
With one of the fastest-paced and highest-scoring offenses in program history this year's Marquette squad ranks among the league leaders and nation's elite in several statistical categories.
Entering the week, the Golden Eagles rank in the top-30 in the NCAA in corner kicks per game (9th - 7.33), total goals (21st - 26), shots on goal per game (24th - 6.92), scoring offense (26th - 2.17) and total points (26th - 72).
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday will mark the 18th all-time meeting between Marquette and Seton Hall, a series which began in 2005. In what has been a very competitive series, the Golden Eagles have an overall record of 7-7-3 against the Pirates, with an all-time mark of 5-2-1 in Milwaukee. Seton Hall has won three of the past five meetings, though MU came out on top in a 3-1 contest last season in South Orange.
All-time against UConn, the Golden Eagles trail 1-8-1 in a series which dates back to 1991. MU has a 1-2-1 series record in Milwaukee. Last season in what was the first meeting between the squads since 2012, UConn earned a 2-1 win in Storrs.
