The Golden Eagles face the Pirates and Red Storm for the second time in three weeks

MILWAUKEE – The No. 19 Marquette University women's volleyball team resumes BIG EAST Conference action at home on Friday Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 against Seton Hall and St. John's, respectively.
The matches over MU's fall break begin with a 7 p.m. opening serve against the Pirates on Friday prior to a 4 p.m. start against the Red Storm on Saturday. Both matches will air live on FloSports with Bob Brainerd calling the action from the Al McGuire Center. Michelle Griffin-Wenzel joins Brainerd on Friday night for commentary of the match against SHU.

Saturday afternoon's contest against St. John's is MU's annual Trick-or-Treat match. Fans are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, while Halloween candy will be distributed and fan voting will take place to judge team-carved pumpkins.

SERIES WITH SETON HALL: Marquette holds a 21-5 advantage over Seton Hall. The Golden Eagles have been dominant in this series as of late as winners of 12 in a row dating back to the 2015 campaign. The Golden Eagles swept Seton Hall on Oct. 8 in New Jersey, led by 11 kills from Reitsma.
ST. JOHN'S (15-6, 6-2 BIG EAST):
SERIES WITH ST. JOHN'S: The Golden Eagles own a 23-7 record in the all-time series and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings overall. Marquette swept St. Johns in its previous matchup this season in New York as Carsen Murray hit .625 with 11 kills and five blocks to lead the Golden Eagles on Oct. 7.

No. 19 MARQUETTE (16-2, 7-1 BIG EAST):
- The Golden Eagles are coming off a 1-1 weekend in which they fell in five sets at then-No. 21 Creighton and swept Xavier. The loss to the Bluejays snapped MU's 13-match winning streak and came after MU took a 2-0 lead in Omaha.
- MU's only other loss of the campaign came on Sept. 2 at then-No. 6 Wisconsin in four sets.
- Marquette, which fell three spots in Monday's AVCA Coaches Poll to No. 19, is 14th in the most recent NCAA RPI rankings.
- This weekend's matches against SHU and SJU come just two weeks after MU met the travel partners on the East Coast. MU swept both teams on Oct. 7-8 in New York and New Jersey.
- Outside hitter Jenna Reitsma followed up a BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week performance at SJU and SHU with weekly honor roll mention for her play at Creighton and Xavier. She led MU in kills in each match last weekend and posted 13 kills, 12 digs and four service aces in the win over the Musketeers.
- Aubrey Hamilton leads the Golden Eagles with 208 kills (3.25 per set) on the year, while setter Yadhira Anchante has helped MU hit a BIG EAST-best .282. Marquette is also first in the league in kills (14.26), second in assists (13.08) and opponent hitting percentage (.182) and third in service aces (1.60).
- Middle blocker Carsen Murray currently leads the league among qualified players in hitting percentage (.405), Anchante is third in assists per frame (10.54) and Murray also ranks first in blocks per set (1.11). Libero Carly Skrabak is fourth in digs per set (4.55).
- Head coach Ryan Theis currently sits at 199 victories in his Marquette career and would become just the eighth MU head coach in any sport to reach the 200-win plateau with one more victory.
SETON HALL (13-7, 4-4 BIG EAST):
- The Pirates enter Friday's matchup tied for fourth in the BIG EAST with a 4-4 record in conference play.
- SHU has dropped its last three matches, losing at Butler in four sets in its most recent match on Friday.
- The Pirates are 2-3 in true road matches this season and are playing their third-straight road conference tilt.
- Sophomore Jenna Walsh leads SHU with 268 kills and 3.44 kills per set and ranks fifth in the league in both kills and points per frame.
- Sophomore Anna Holland was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2021, and has continued her strong play in 2022, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST with 314 total digs and is sixth in digs per set.
- Freshman Asli Subasil has been a force in the middle for Seton Hall, ranking third in the BIG EAST with 1.09 blocks per frame.
- The Pirates rank fourth in the BIG EAST, hitting .226 and are third in the BIG EAST in opponent hitting percentage, holding their opponents to a .186 mark.

- The Red Storm is riding a three-game winning streak with wins over DePaul, Seton Hall and Butler and will face the Blue Demons in Chicago on Friday night before making the trip to Milwaukee.
- The St. John's attack is led by Giorgia Walther and Rachele Rastelli. The duo ranks second and third, respectively, in the BIG EAST in kills.
- Rastelli, the BIG EAST Co-Player of the Year in 2021, has tallied 305 kills (3.63 k/s) while Walther has racked up 310 kills (3.78 k/s).
- SJU also has the BIG EAST leader in assists in sophomore Wiktoria Kowalczyk (10.92 assists per set).
- SJU is third in the BIG EAST hitting at .242, while holding its opponents to a .206 mark.
