MILWAUKEE – The No. 19 Marquette University women's volleyball team posted a season-high 13 blocks in a 25-23, 25-16, 25-20 sweep of St. John's on Saturday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles (18-2, 9-1 BIG EAST) received a career-best nine blocks from Carsen Murray, who also notched seven kills on .636 hitting with no attack errors. Fellow middle Hattie Bray hit .667 (6-0-9) with three blocks, while outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton landed a team-high 11 kills. Hamilton also added a pair of service aces and four blocks. Â
Rachele Rastelli led St. John's (16-7, 7-3 BIG EAST) with a team-high 15 kills and MU limited Giorgia Walther, the BIG EAST's No. 2 kill leader, to a hitting mark of .000 with 10 errors offsetting 10 kills.Â

NOTABLE:
- The Golden Eagles own a 24-7 record in the all-time series and have won 12 of the last 13 meetings overall. Marquette swept St. Johns in its previous matchup this season in New York as Carsen Murray hit .625 with 11 kills and five blocks on Oct. 7.
- The Red Storm rode a four-game winning streak into the match with wins over DePaul (twice), Seton Hall and Butler.
- MU called a timeout facing a 22-21 deficit in the opening set and rebounded for the 25-23 win. SJU had 12 hitting errors in that first frame.Â
- Marquette led by as many as 10 points in the 25-16 second set win.
- The Golden Eagles scored the final six points of the third set after trailing 20-19 to complete the sweep. MU hit a match-high .382 in the final frame.
