
Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Play At ITA Midwest Regional

Emilija Kojcic and Elisabeth Desmarais represent MU in main draw
The Marquette University women's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted at Michigan this past weekend.
"We are definitely making progress especially in doubles," assistant coach Dusan Medan said. "I was very pleased the way we competed and the way we served throughout the tournament."
Emilija Kojcic represented the Golden Eagles in the full 64-person main draw, falling to Wisconsin's Alina Mukhortova (6-2, 6-4). Elisabeth Desmarais also qualified for the main draw after giving Marquette wins over Chicago State and Youngstown State, but fell to Bojana Pozder of Notre Dame (6-4, 6-1).
Two duos competed for Marquette in doubles action, with Lara Kaiser and Andie Weise tallying a first-round win over Western Michigan but fell to Illinois in the round of 32. Kojcic and Desmarais paired up to grab two wins over NIU and Notre Dame before falling to Illinois in the round of 16.
UP NEXT: Marquette will return to action Nov. 4-6 at Michigan State.
