
WBB Earns 83-40 Victory Over Saint Francis

All 12 Golden Eagle players score in dominant win over Red Flash
MILWAUKEE — The Marquette women's basketball team (6-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) took down Saint Francis Sunday afternoon, posting a dominant 83-40 victory inside of the Al McGuire Center.
"We're really excited to be back in the Al, playing a home game. After a great trip to The Bahamas it was great to get back on our court," said Marquette head coach Megan Duffy. "I'm happy with our overall fight, and we had some great performances off the bench."
Marquette never trailed in the contest, while all 12 eligible MU players made their way onto the score sheet, led by junior forward Liza Karlen's game-high 18 points. The Golden Eagles used efficient shooting and suffocating defense in the second half to remain comfortably in control, shooting 44 percent (15-of-34) in the half and forcing 22 total turnovers in the contest.
After exchanging baskets on the first few possessions of the game, it was all Marquette the rest of the way. After leading 10-9 midway through the first quarter, the Golden Eagles outscored the Red Flash 33-6 the remainder of the half, including a 21-0 run in the second quarter as they took a 43-15 lead at the half.
The Golden Eagles showcased their depth, as nine different MU players recorded three or more rebounds, while six dished out three or more assists. 37 of the team's 83 points came from the bench, led by freshman guard Mackenzie Hare's 12.
The Red Flash were led by Filippa Goula, who finished the afternoon with 10 points.

Liza Karlen finished with 18 points in 21 minutes, reaching double-digits in the scoring column for the sixth time in seven games this year, and the 25th time in her career.

Chloe Marotta came one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 12 points, a team-high nine boards and three assists.

Claire Kaifes brought down eight rebounds, doubling her previous career high of four. She also had five points and three assists.

Makiyah Williams went for a career-high three blocks. She also had six points, two shy of a career high.

Mackenzie Hare scored 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting beyond the arc, all of her points coming in the second half. This was the fourth double-figure scoring outing of her career.

Marquette's 83 points were a season-high, while 40 points are also its fewest allowed this season.

As a team, Marquette had eight blocks, a new season high.

Marquette also tied its season-high of 13 steals.

46 of Marquette's 83 points came from the paint.

All 12 available Marquette players scored, the first time that has happened this season. 11 of those players registered ten minutes or more.

Marquette finished the game shooting 42.9 percent (33-of-77) from the floor, 32.0 percent (8-of-25) from 3-point range and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line.

Marquette improved to 27-8 in non-conference matchups and 40-8 in home contests under Coach Duffy.

With the win, Marquette improves to 6-1 on the year. This ties the team's best start to a season since the 2010-11 campaign.

With the win, Marquette is now 3-1 all-time against Saint Francis and 8-1 all-time against Northeast Conference opponents.
