
Cross Country Prepares for NCAA Regional

Indiana State hosts NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 11
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams are competing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Terre Haute, Indiana on Friday, Nov. 11.
The regionals will begin at 9 a.m. CT with the women's 6k race. The men's 10k race will follow at 10 a.m. with an awards ceremony to follow. Live timing will be available here.
The meet will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center at Indiana State. The course features a challenging mix of uphill and downhill sections and its straightaway start stretches for nearly the first kilometer before a turn.
Since opening in 1997, this will mark the seventh NCAA Great Lakes Regional to be hosted at the course. The course has also hosted 13 NCAA Championships, four MVC Championships and the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Championships.Â
MARQUETTE NOTES
The Golden Eagles are coming off the BIG EAST Championships in Attleboro, Massachusetts where the men finished eighth and the women ninth. Dan Weizeorick led the MU men with a time of 25:20 to take 35th overall. Sophomore Tyler Re turned in a personal best performance with a time of 25:43. Anna Penzkover finished first for the women taking 43rd overall with a time of 22:28.Â
Weizeorick was the top finisher for the men at last year's NCAA Great Lakes Regional with a personal best time of 31:47.8 to take 81st. Zak Kindl, Jadon Conroy and Cade Ferron are the other Golden Eagles with regionals experience on the roster. All three ran personal best times at last year's regionals in Evansville, Indiana. Â Â
The MU women return three of their top five scores from last year's regional in Kate Jochims, Emily Noone and Laurel Moneysmith. Jochims was the top finisher coming in 78th with a personal best time of 21:36.1. Noone and Moneysmith finished third and fifth, respectively, for the Golden Eagles, with Noone running the course in a personal best time of 22:32.3.
UP NEXT
The top-two teams in each of the NCAA's nine regions advance to the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Nov. 19, along with 13 additional at-large teams selected by the NCAA. Each of the top 25 individual finishers at Friday's meet will receive all-region recognition with the top-four individuals not on a qualifying team advancing to the NCAA Championships.
