Series With Seton Hall Dates Back To 1956
  Â
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series with Seton Hall, 21-13, with all but one of the matchups coming after MU joined the BIG EAST Conference in 2005-06.
  Â
SHU opened the series with a 96-78 victory over Marquette on March 17, 1956 in MU's first-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament in New York. The next meeting wouldn't come until 50 years later when Marquette moved to the BIG EAST.
  Â
Marquette swept the home-and-home series in 2021-22, snapping a six-game winning streak in the series by the Pirates. Â Greg Elliott's last-second free throw proved to be the difference in a 73-72 win on Jan. 15 at Fiserv Forum and forward Justin Lewis scored a career-best 33 points in the 72-63 win at SHU on Jan. 26.
Kolek's Career Best Not Enough In 2OT Setback
  Â
Returning to his native Rhode Island for the second time, guard Tyler Kolek's career-best night nearly allowed Marquette to rally at Providence, but the Golden Eagles eventually fell 103-98 in double overtime.
  Â
The Cumberland native finished with a personal-best 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor in 41 minutes of action before fouling out in overtime. Â He also found time to chip in five rebounds, a career-best five steals and three assists.
  Â
Kolek's point total marked a collegiate high, surpassing a 19-point effort while at George Mason against UMass on Dec. 30, 2020.
  Â
The back-and-forth contest featured 11 lead changes and 13 ties, with Providence leading by as many as 11 points in the first half and the Golden Eagles were up nine points with 7:21 to play.
