
Golden Eagles Conclude Action at GVSU Big Meet

Pfrimmer reaches No. 5 all-time in the 5000-meter
ALLENDALE, MICHIGAN – The Marquette men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Grand Valley State Friday for the GVSU Big Meet. Grand Valley State played host to 159 teams and over 1,800 entries Friday. Nine Golden Eagles set personal bests at the GVSU Big Meet.
"Overall it was a successful day. We had a handful of personal bests and it was good seeing people continuing to improve," head coach Bert Rogers said. "It was nice having a couple of people come back from injuries and run well."
On the men's side, Dan Weizeorick (14:45.14), Jordan Janusiak (14:49.84) and David Zeller (14:55.16) all achieved PRs in the 5000-meter run. Weizeorick beat his previous PR by 26 seconds. Sophomore Patrick Hetlage set a new PR in the 3000-meter with 8.33.10, 26 seconds faster than his previous PR. In the 800-meter, Cade Ferron finished with a personal best time of 1:53.77 and Greg Van Hollen finished in a season-best 1:56.66, two-tenths of a second off his PR.
In the men's long jump, sophomore Simon Werven recorded a PR of 6.53 meters/21 feet, 5.25 inches.
On the women's side, Junior Kendall Pfrimmer placed ninth in her heat of the 5000-meter run. Pfrimmer crossed the line in a personal best 16:53.78, good for No. 5 all-time in Marquette history. Sophomore Mallory Lafever set a new PR as well in the 5000-meter at 18:19.64.
In the women's 600-meter, Emily Noone finished first in her heat with a time of 1:36.84. Senior Emily Foley finished third in her heat of the mile with a time of 5:10.58.

Next weekend the Golden Eagles will head to Madison to compete in the St. Valentine's Invite on Friday, Feb. 18.
